Santa???

My son Ammon, who will be turning 8 this February, sure asked a lot of questions about Santa this year! It makes me sad to think this is probably the last year Santa will exist in his mind as a real person. I guess we all have to grow up at some time but still I was hoping around the age of 13 or 14 even. But he is too smart for his own good. I can't remember when I figured it all out and or how I felt. I just remember how I felt when I woke up to a lot of presents and didn't care who they came from. Here were some of his questions. "How come we have the same wrapping paper that Santa used last year?" (My bad). We were getting ready for bed and out of the blue he said, "I think Santa is our own parents." Dakota just looked at me and laughed, it does not matter much to Dakota as it does me, he figures he will figure it out sooner then later but still...few more years please! I like hiding and being sneaky with the gifts, trying to find good places to hid them without getting caught. "If we are celebrating Jesus birthday then why does Santa give us gifts?" But the funnest one was when he said, "How does Santa watch us when we are sleeping? Its kind of creepy." So many questions, really funny questions and some I don't really know how to answer the correct way without lying or giving it away. I was not prepared for these questions so early. We will see what happens, maybe I'll get one more year!?!?!

Long Time

For those that care...I am so sorry for not writing in such a long time. I really didn't think it was a big deal until my sister-in-law called and said I can see you still have a cold. Well yes I do, but I have gotten better and then sick again a few times. But a lot has happened in the last few months of not writing so I will sum it up a bit. The latest news BELLA IS ONE! I just can't believe how time fly's so fast! She has taken her first steps and it wont be long until she will be walking. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and a fun time with Dakota's dad. I love cooking that meal...I know crazy but its a fun challenge. We are all excited for Christmas, and now that Bella knows how to open gifts and realizes there is a toy under all that paper it will be fun this year. Micaiah knows Santa very very well. Every time there is a picture of him he yells SANTA MAMA SANTA! Its so cute. We still have to go visit the man but hopefully this weekend we will get there. It amazes me on how expensive things are. I don't know but when I had only one kid it was so much cheaper and it seems like we got a lot more for the money. Now we have three kids and everyone only gets a gift for the same price. Well it will be fun all in all! I will be out in Utah for Kylie's wedding to take their wedding pictures and I'm so excited for them! I sure miss my friends in Utah. I can't wait to spend some time with everyone. Well i guess that is it for now. I will be better on writing on my blog. I need to make it a priority and then it will happen. Thank you for reading and come back for more!

The Cold

It is so interesting when one person comes home sick it circulates through the home and everyone else in the family has to get sick too. But they always say, "The best way to get rid of a cold is to give it to someone else." The only one that does not have this wonderful head cold is my husband...but this too shall get him. My poor little Bella, its just so sad to see a baby with a runny nose and it tickles her! And she does not like it!! Micaiah woke up with the lovely crusties around the nose...you know the ones that hurt when you try to clean them off. He did not like me at this morning. Thank you to public school, something I look forward to every year "The Cold".

2nd grade ALREADY!!

Ammon started school on Wednesday the 19th of august. Its so sad to say I'm old enough to have a second grader! I feel for those that have a senior in high school (Tisha, (my sister)). He was so cute, we went clothes shopping couple of days before and he picked out everything he wanted to wear. That's when I realized my job was almost done. I get to guide him and teach him things to help him through his life. Things that can make him strong and knowledgeable, things to prepare him for the good times and the bad. This has opened my eyes to how much I need to learn for myself to be a good teacher. Because there will be a time that he will be on his way...all by himself. Only calling me when it's a dire situation. But I can't think about that now. I have to think of how cute he was his first day and how excited he was to go meet new friends. How when he came out of his class room you knew he had a good day. When he looked over at me with those bright eyes, with that "HI MOM" look too excited to tell me everything. All the words came out in a jumble. It was precious! I asked him "How was your day? He said "WONDERFUL!! I love the first day of school!!"

Camping in the High Alpine

We went camping again. Two weekends in a row, man we are spoiled! But this time Dakota thought it would be best if we went to the top of a mountain. We went to a place called Adams Lake. It was an adventure for sure. The path that took us up the mountain was steep. On one side it went straight up and on the other it went straight down. At times it look as if we could fall 3 hundred feet off the side of the road. The road was pretty much a one car maybe squeeze in another if your lucky. It had switch back all the way up the mountain. But once we were on top we drove for about an hour into the mountains, then we hit the "fun stuff". The stuff where I had to jump out of the car a few times and Dakota even got scared at one point. He stepped out of the car to look at the hill we were about to go down when he came back to the car he said, "Make sure everyone has their seat belts on." That was it I was done!!! I jumped out of the car and ran down the hill with all my kids and kept running until I felt safe. Nothing happened of course he made it just fine. But I'm glad I did not have to experience it.

WAKING UP.
I woke up to this...

It was so cute when i walked outside of the tent and saw all the flowers my boys gathered for me. It made my day. Little Micaiah brought me some flowers also just so he could get a kiss. The first day was so cold. we were so high in the mountains that we could see snow across the lake from us. The boys stayed in the car to get warm. So we packed up our tent and went around the rest of the loop to find a warmer place to sleep.

DIVORCE HILL.
The Divorce hill was the last hill you had to go up to get to the camp ground. This too I walk up with all my kids. But I tell you what, it was one of the most up in the air hill I have ever seen. The reason its called the Divorce hill is because the next day on our way out Dakota would not let me get out of the car, so i screamed "I WANT A DIVORCE." He stopped and laughed but Ammon did not think it was so funny. He said, "No mommy that would make me sad." I told him "then tell your dad to let me out!" He let me out with the baby and Micaiah but Ammon stayed.

We went through some amazing four wheeling trails. I never in my right mind would think my car would ever go through these types of obstacles. But we did it and it was fun.
We finally had enough going over bumps and rocks and everything else. So we decided to find a place and we found a beautiful one next to another lake where it was a little warmer. We set up tent and while I cooked our diner the boys went out on the lake in the raft. They loved it! Ammon wanted to go on the other side of the lake and walk around to see what the difference was. They got out of the boat and I could see them from where I was. They just walked around and examined the area.

After diner we went into survival mode. It rained really hard and it was so cold. We tried to watch a movie in the tent but it was raining too hard, we could not hear it. We were so cold. It thundered and we had lightening all night. I was up all night trying to keep Isabella and Ammon warm. Dakota was up all night trying to keep Micaiah warm. He would kick off his blankets and wiggle out of his sleeping bag. I think Dakota had a harder time then I did. The next day was fun we ate a breakfast that took 5 hours to cook for some odd reason and then we packed up our tent and headed home. Before we left the boys through a log in the lake and The weather could not make up its mind. It was either really nice with blue sky's or dark gray clouds but the clouds moved so fast so the changes were minute to minute. We of course had to finish the trail we slept at. There was no reason to turn around on the main road...oh no not in Dakota's book. It was a beautiful drive, bumpy but beautiful. What an adventure these three days were!

Camping

Funny Story...
Dakota and I were planning on going camping but like always we wait until the last minute to plan anything or get anything ready. so Thursday night we made it official to go camping. Friday morning Dakota's off to work to leave getting ready for me. I get clothes and the food together. he of course gets the gear. But the food alone took me all day only because i chose to do dutch oven meals when we camp.

Dakota always says, "We eat Better when we camp then we do at home!"

Dakota come's home from work and we pack up our car and off we go. He found a place he wanted to take up but for some reason the direction page was missing. We laughed and drove towards the mountains. Being new here in Colorado we had no idea where we could go with not too many people around. we drove for about 3 hours and found this road he remembered seeing on the internet while he was searching for a place. we headed down that road and found a beautiful place to camp. we got done setting up camp right when it got dark...count our blessing!
We also had to set up a NEW tent lol and everyone know how that goes. We ate dinner and I made this wonderful desert.

In the afternoon we packed up the camp ground and drove around the mountains. we ran into a guy who told us about this road that would take us out the other side of the mountain. SO OFF We GO!!! Lets just say it was intense...rocks that would have killed my car if I didn't have a 3 inch left and 35 inch tires and also if Dakota didn't know what he was doing. Parts where I had to close my eyes or jump out of the car. I'm not really the four wheeling type...but it is growing on me (only because I'm still alive and my car is not hurt). It was a beautiful drive. I can't wait for next weekend.

Ammon said "Grandma is the Best!!!"

Grandmas hold our tiny hands for just a little while, but our hearts forever.

It is sad when we have to say our goodbye's. To tell you the truth I have never been good at them. Grandma Suzanne Nelson came to visit us in our new place in Colorado. We enjoy having her around. It's like the Ice Cream that goes with the cake. She is so much fun, she plays with the boys, makes Bella smile that perfect smile. She rides bikes around the yard and goes down the slides. She doesn't even have to try hard to make them happy.
I woke up one morning to her and Ammon missing, I called her cell phone and then Dakota's trying to find them. Two minutes later here they walk in with loads of groceries. Funny to say I know Ammon picked out most of the food. He said "Grandma is the Best!!" I am so greatful to her and the love she has for my family. I could have never asked for a better Mother-in-law and grandma in the world. Thank you Suzanne for everything you do for us. We miss you.

First Day

My goals have been set and I'm ready to start an adventure. Here we start the Nelson Family Blog for all those that have been bagging me to know what we are up to in this new life in Colorado. Where to start. The apartment is nice...smaller then the house but nice. We have lakes all around us. We love to go on evening walks or on a bike ride just to enjoy the beauty of the sunsets and each other. Dakota loves his job, he has a lot to learn in this company. I'm just the mom who tries to keep her house clean and make sure all the kids are happy (a full time job let me remind you). Ammon starts school in over a week and is extremely excited for he has not found any friends yet. That will be taken care of in due time. Micaiah seems so much happier in this apartment, less temper tantrums and more words are spoken out of his mouth. He is being potty trained and is doing very well. Until we are at the store and he tells me "mommy I have to poop!" Then we are set back a day or two. Isabella is teething and how fun is that for all that know!! Fevers, runny noise, ache's, wants to be held all the time, wont sleep at night...ect. But she has the most beautiful smile! She is truly my princess.

There we go! The fisrt post of the year:)
